William Evans was the son of Colorado’s territorial governor, John Evans and sister of Anne Evans. He became president of the Denver Tramway Company. He also succeeded David Moffat as president of the Denver and Salt Lake Railway. Through his ventures, Evans built upon his father’s legacy. His work with the Denver Tramway Company helped to connect communities with the greater city of Denver while the railroads provided Colorado a connection with the nation.
