Denver Story Trek is a collaborative program led by Historic Denver, Inc., a private non-profit organization dedicated to saving Denver’s historic places, and the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs.
Story Trek is designed to draw out the special stories of the places that matter to Denver. From parks, street corners, homes and businesses, Denver is full of old places that do not just remind locals that they are home, but that tell the stories of our shared past and remind us that we are not the first people to live, work, play and visit the Mile High City.
To begin your trek:
1) SELECT from dozens of Story Sites and featured Treks or BUILD your own Trek
2) BIKE, WALK or DRIVE to the Story Sites on your Trek, which include museums, homes, parks and other landmarks
3) DIAL 303-562-2407 on your phone or DOWNLOAD the audio files to listen to a FREE story about each site
Story Trek was inspired by the participating historic site museums, including the Black America West Museum, Byers Evans House Museum, Four Mile Historic Park, Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art and the Molly Brown House Museum. Each site is included on Denver Story Trek and tells and unique and significant part of the city’s story. Be sure to visit all five to discover unexpected connections.
The program has received support from the federal Preserve America initiave, Visit Denver, the Colorado State Historical Fund, the Colorado Tourism Office, and Tourism Cares for Tomorrow.
